Week 1: Arizona

The first week on the road has been a beautiful introduction to the desert.

Arizona welcomed us with huge skies, quiet mornings, and landscapes that feel almost empty at first… but the longer you sit with them, the more alive they become. The colors shift constantly with the sun. The wind paints patterns across the sand. Even the silence feels different out here.
Piccolo and Able are starting to find their rhythm with van life too. Piccolo has fully accepted his role as desert lookout. Able, on the other hand, has chosen a different strategy entirely. Find the warmest spot in the van and curl up as often as possible.

We are all figuring it out together.
The biggest surprise this week has been the cold nights. Desert temperatures drop fast once the sun disappears and the van cools down quicker than I expected. It has taken some experimenting with blankets, layers, and a few creative adjustments to find a system that keeps us warm without draining the battery overnight.
But honestly… those little problems are part of the fun.
This first week has also been about slowing down and finding a groove. Learning how the days unfold out here. When to move, when to sit still, when to take a walk, and when to simply enjoy the quiet. Most importantly, how to fit this all around tutoring and developing Learning Unbound.
But something else has been happening too.

Conversations.
Some of the most meaningful moments so far have come from unexpected conversations with people along the way. Sitting, listening, sharing stories… those moments are turning out to be just as memorable as any landscape.
Maybe even more.
Below are a few more photos from this first week in Arizona.

More to come…
